Title IX Coordinator
Jennifer Newell joined the Office of Legal Affairs as the Title IX Coordinator in August 2016. She has over 20 years of senior administrative experience in higher education. Newell most recently served as Dean of Students and Title IX Deputy Coordinator at Genesee Community College in Batavia, New York, a multi-campus college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. Newell previously held the positions of Vice President for Student Affairs at Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina and Assistant Dean of Student Life/Director of Residential Life at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the State University of New York College at Cortland, a Master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration from the State University College at Buffalo. During her professional experiences, Newell has been responsible for strategic planning, as well as program implementation and compliance. Her passion for higher education and student success is illustrated by the roles she’s held working closely with student organizations and student leadership.
In her role as UNC Charlotte’s Title IX Coordinator, Newell will be responsible for all management of aspects of the University’s Title IX compliance program, including outreach and educational programming, investigation of sexual misconduct allegations and case management services.
